The course is imaginatively laid out, with the primary challenge/defense the sand trap complexes. There are sand traps in nearly every landing area, and you must either be a bomber or be able to hit the ball straight to avoid the traps. You need to avoid the traps because the sand is poorly maintained and poorly groomed.
This was once a gorgeous golf course fallen on hard times and a cheap owner. Ideally located for a round on the way north or south. Its a crying shame. C'mon, man, spend some money!!!
Can't beat the price, layout is fun to play. The "sand" traps are dirt, the tee boxes are awful, lots of weeds. Course needs some work but had a nice time
Great course at an affordable rate and usually isn't busy all the time with leagues which makes it an ideal place to get a membership. The course is challenging in that it is longer than most courses with bunkers that are easy to hit into off the tee box but if you avoid them you can score well.

We played this course on Labor Day, 2017, in cool, dry weather. The staff was competent, and the pro shop minimalist. This course was once Bay County Country Club and has fallen on hard times. It is a potentially great golf course that receives minimum maintenance and shows it in every aspect.
Not as well maintained as in past years. Good food for lunch. Challenging course for average golfer
The fairways are fairly generous and the rough is no problem because it doesn't seem to have been watered anytime this century.
The greens are of moderate speed with some contour and pin placements deep on the greens create some challenging approaches. The greens also suffer from poor maintenance and numerous ball marks now ball scars.
